John Best

Royal Ascot winning trainer John Best and his stunning Eyethorn Farm facilities are the base for Langton Racing and our first crop of horses. John has trained over 450 winners during a stellar training career including Group raced winners Kingsgate Native and Rising Cross and has had recent success in the stunning St. Moritz festival being the leading trainer and representing the leading owner in the last 2 festivals.

He is best known for his top class wins at Royal Ascot, Keeneland USA, Dubai, St Moritz and a world record breaking performance on Epsom Derby Day. For nearly two decades he has produced hundreds of winners at some of the most prestigious racecourses in the UK and overseas.

He is also renowned for maximising potential investments for owners including Kingsgate Native bought for £20,000 and sold for £1.1 million, Rising Cross bought for £14,000 and sold for £325,000, Square Eddie bought for £100,000 and sold for £650,000 along with numerous other high profile sales.

Bryan Smart

Bryan Smart has built an enviable reputation as a top class trainer. He is proud to have brought the historic training yard and gallops at Hambleton House, on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors, back to its former glory. After 12 successful years in Lambourn, Bryan returned to his Yorkshire roots in 2002 along with two essential team members, wife Vicky and daughter Beth.

He has trained the winners of 17 Group and Listed races including three consecutive wins at Royal Ascot and a Group 1 win in the 2018 Nunthorpe Stakes with Alpha Delphini. Bryan is always on the lookout for the next superstar and has an exceptional eye for a horse having bought relatively cheap yearlings and produced them to win races at the highest level. While he is known for loving speed and has an excellent record with sprinters, he also enjoys finding the key to horse that might have fallen out of love with the game.

His patient and holistic approach to training allows him to keep the horses sweet and enjoying life as they get older ensuring they are allowed to mature at their own pace whilst keeping them fit and healthy, both physically and mentally. With this approach he aims to bring out the best in every horse in his care whatever their level of ability.

- Our Jockey -

Charlie Bishop

As first jockey for Langton Racing, Charlie Bishop will be a face you’ll be seeing regularly at the racecourse.

Group One winning jockey after his victory on Accidental Agent in the Queen Anne Stakes, the opening race of the 2018 Royal Ascot fixture, Charlie has established himself as a respected and well regarded jockey over the past few years, having a regular association and plenty of winners with both Eve Johnson Houghton and Mick Channon.

Charlie has rode well over 200 winners over the past 5 years, and is excited to get going for Langton Racing.

“I’ve sat on a couple of the horses that have been purchased for the syndicate and am really looking forward to riding them on the track. The syndicate offers a really great way of enjoying affordable ownership for newcomers into the sport or for existing owners to extend their portfolio of horses. The Langton Guarantee is really innovative and offers that extra security you wouldn’t usually get as an owner.

The opportunity to ride the horses, and grow with Langton Racing is something I’m really looking forward to and hopefully we’ll be celebrating lots of success in the winners enclosure in the near future.”

Born just outside of Ledbury, Herefordshire, Charlie has always been around horses and is an expert horseman, ensuring that the horses welfare is always of paramount importance. At just 27 and already a Group One winner, Charlie has his best racing years ahead of him and has big ambitions of achieving plenty of success.

Charlie is also fantastic with owners, providing insightful feedback after racing and always happy to talk with owners in the parade ring before racing to discuss the best tactics for the race.
